E430 Engine Idle Problems ?

I purchased a '99 E430 Sport in Feb. with 15K miles on it from a MB dealer. I love the car except for two distinct qualities that the dealer has looked at three times. When the car is at idle, either in or out of gear, the entire car shakes. The dealer has replaced the plugs, mass flow sensor and motor mounts on three seperate visits, with the motor mounts offering some benefit. Is this an inherit charaterisitic of this car or can it be repaired?

The other issue I've noticed is that as you accelerate the engine/transmission growls or runs rough just off of idle and exactly at 1900 RPM. If you maintain speed at exactly 1900 RPM it is very obvious and annoying. Is this rough spot normal or not?

Although all the work has been done under warranty to date, I want to know if I'm chasing something that is "just the way it is" with this power train. Otherwise the car is fast, tight, safe and reliable. Would love anyones opinion on my questions.

No Rough Spot

I have 17k miles on my 2001 E-430. It idles, accelerates and runs smoothly with no rough spot at 1900 rpm.

Take it to some other dealer and have it checked out. My 98 e430 with 40000 miles runs smooth and has non of your symtoms. I just drove o a long trip yesterday to Montauk NY and man this car pulls. I wish we had autobhan!

Smile A Happy Ending

Hey just a note to close out my problem. Took your advice and brought it to a new dealer who after much testing and no codes for it to give them an easy answer, replaced my torque converter. Very happy with the results and all symptoms gone......I love this car!
