for anyone who installed body kit or painted side skirts

I've seen some people with body kits or have their side skirts painted on 1996-1999, but most left the black rubber piece that runs along the bottom of the doors as is and it looks like a big piece of black molding (epecially on light colored cars). I was wondering if anyone did anything to make it blend more into the car's paint, meaning, is it possible to paint the black rubber piece or just remove it?

Trust me your car will not look good if you remove it. Apart from blending it serves some protective purposes. If you paint it, you'll go back to the body shop in two weeks because the paint will wear off. Reason: it's rubber and the paint will not hold. However it does not look back unpainted. Many cars , including newer models of mercedes have it unpainted

like Nobsany said, it won't look good if it is removed b/c there will still be the gap. but more importantly the rubber piece does serve a function in that it keeps water and air out. since it is rubber, paint won't hold...the AMG sport bodykit does the best in terms of minimizing the thickness of that black piece, but i think it's something we'll all have to live with...

i recently had my sides painted white, so far no problem. if the paint wears off, i'll probably just get 2000+ e55 sideskirts.
