3 problems in one weekend...duh!
1.
Hah, on sat. my wife (it's her daily driver) calls me that one of the kids was raising the rear window and after a large bang the window wouldn't close anymore. Thanks to these forums I already replaced the window regulator myself!
2.
Then in the evening when we want to take off; a broken headlight bulb. A minor thing ofcourse but such timing...
3.
On sun. I drive out to relatives of mine only to find my smartkey is completely DEAD when I wanted to leave. Even with empty batteries the key should still allow you to start the engine cuz it gets infrared from the dashboard socket. My key is just plain dead, had to walk a few kilometers back home to get my wife's smartkey! The dealer tells me a new key is gonna cost around €350,-

I dunno?! The dealer quoted me €200,- for a new smartkey, around €30,- for a new blade, the original blade won't fit the new style smartkey. And they need the car twice. First to get the codes from the car to order the new key in Germany, and then again to pair the new key with the car. All in all around €350 total.

These Smart Keys have a definite lifetime but I would try what Kent suggested first - new batteries. 350 euros is too much money; at the current conversion rate, that is over $500 and most in the USA are buying them for less than 1/2 of that.
