The Mercede's Dealers in Florida offer the extended warranty until the factory warranty runs out. After that you'll have to deal with the third party. I heard good things about Warranty Direct but haven't dealt with them directly. For my 1999 E300 with 32,000 miles, Warranty Direct wanted $2,425. I'm still not sure.

I'm not sure if MB will sell you an extended warranty if you purchased you car from an MB dealer brand new, but I do know that the Starmark Certification is only available if you are going to buy an MB from an MB dealer; otherwise, you'll have to buy a third party warranty.
On the recent purchase of my 99 E320 w/ 20K miles, I added the transferable extended warranty for 100K/7Years (total/from date of first owner purchase) for $1600 through Buyer's Choice. I know very little of the company. I did a little bit of research and found some good things about Buyer's Choice and nothing negative, so I went with it...but the main reason I went with it is because that's what my dealer (non-MB) offered...and the price was right. My deductable is $100 and I got the most extensive coverage - Factory Plus.
