stock head unit question
I recently had the stock W210 head unit replaced with an Alpine 7874 and the volume is either a little too loud or a little too quiet. I was told that the stock head unit had an external amp and I think the shop rewired it so that the head unit is still using that amp... There's no volume offset settings on the head unit so I was wondering... is there any such setting on the MB external amp? ... or any ideas on how to fix it?

If your shop is really slick, they can use ur RCA outputs instead of the speaker outputs. You get a pair of RCA cable [very very short] and strip off one side and connect the other side with the remaining plugs into the RCA plugs coming off the radio. The stripped end you connect to the speaker wire coming from the car using a harness from Beckers Online. I could've done this for my Pioneer, but it doesn't bother me and not noticeable. Alpine's in general are very sensitive to the numberical volume increments. IT's just in the nature of their radio's. I wouldn't worry about it unless it is driving you up the wall...
