As I write this we're still a few responses short, but with a few weeks remaining in the month we should have an initial result for the 2001 in May.

Ideally we'd cover all model years, just a matter of getting enough owners involved.

Barely got enough responses for the 2001, so we'll have a partial result for it in about two weeks. Thanks, guys.

Continue to need more participants to provide full results for all model years.

It took longer than I had hoped, but we have a partial results for the 2001 E-Class based on owner experiences through March 31, 2010. With a reported repair frequency of 181 repair trips per 100 cars per year, it's worse than average. But the sample size was very small, so this result might not be accurate.

We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Updated stats next month. A few model years remain just below the minimum sample size, so even a few additional participants per year would be very helpful.

We have updated results for the E-Class to include owner experiences through June 30, 2010.

Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the more recent months until the summer or even fall of next year.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2001: 150, worse than average

1999: 145, about average

Small sample sizes for both.

Thank you, once again, to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in November and February. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

This week we'll start previewing the next set of results to participants. The preview results will be updated as responses come in.

As always, the more owners participate, the better the information we can provide to everyone.

Starting this month we have a new question to measure, as objectively as possible, the severity of a problem. Many people have been asking for reliability stats that weight problems by how severe they are, and once we have enough responses with the revised survey we'll start providing this.

I'd be interested in sharing reliability and repair info. I've recently acquired a W210 98 E320 with 178K miles.

Currently have 2 issues: bronzed over driver side mirror and the third brake light just stopped working.

Thanks!

With a model year before 2000 you won't be able to post past repairs, fuel economy, and a few other things. But your car will be included in the main reliability survey--it'll be activated and you'll get an email with a link to the survey early next month.
