Tornado Air managment installed on my 1997 E300 diesel, amazing results!!
I was bored one Sunday afternoon flipping through the channels when I came across a pretty interesting info-mercial. It was on this Tornado device which is installed in your air supply line between the filter and engine. As the manufactor states "Tornado is a non-moving turbine shaped device, which creates a vortex or swirling effect to the engine. The result is improved airflow into the engine's combustion chamber, causing a more efficient mixture between air and fuel". I normally do not believe many of the info-mercials, but this one made perfect sense to me!!! Increased airflow to your engine is diffenitly a good thing. So I ordered it, and when it arrived I decieded to put this thing to my own test!!!
Here is the test I performed on my 1997 E300 Diesel !!!
1. I drove my car thru two full tanks of fuel and recorded my mileage (no modifcations).
2. I installed the tornado device, drove my car thru two full tanks of fuel and recorded my mileage, I was socked.
3. I took a one foot length of avation grade duct tape, and fastened a roll of Charmin double-ply non-scented quilted top toliet tissue to the side of my air filter housing. then drove my car thru two full tanks of fuel and recored my mileage.
The results are as followed:
1. Stock 1997 E300 diesel= 32.45 mpg
2. 1997 E300 Diesel with tornado= 32.35 mpg
3. 1997 E300 diesel with Toliet tissue duct taped to the air filter housing= 32.55 mpg
As you can see Charmin toliet tissue is just as effective in increaseing your fuel economy as the Tornado device. Not to mention Charmin has other more practical uses. For those who are interested I will be selling the Charmin/ duct tape kits on ebay for $49.95.
