CD changer help
I finally got tired of listening to the radio and want to install a cd changer. I opened up the rear driver side well in the trunk to see if the wires for the cd changer still existed (Picture below). This is a 99 mercedes (prefacelift) E320, i need help figuring out which model cd changers will work. I know the dealer is going to kill me if i go asking them for a unit, any places in socal you guys know? If not im going to look on ebay.
Thank you

I bought a used CD changer from some guy on eBay and it works well, but I might have been lucky (about $225). Then I bought a bracket from my dealer ($100) and a tech installed it for nothing. You can tell if you have fiber optic connects if they are orange.

What it means is that you have to program the D2B fiberoptic network to recognize the changer, or the car won't know it's there and it will not function properly. I went through that with mine, and the dealer did that for no charge too. I think the programming requires the Star Diagnostic system.

A 203 820 90 89 [ MC 3010 model ]
A 002 820 79 89 [ MC 3198 model ]
..are the two most recent models to fit fiber compliant head unit of the E320
for that year. THere was one earlier version but I cant find the part # at
the moment.
A 208 540 44 08 - do NOT get this one. not fiber and one of the older units

Sorry I do not but there is more than one. If you are buying from a knowledgeable seller they should know if theirs is one that works with the fileroptic network. You could also call a dealer, give them your VIN, and they should be able to tell you.
BTW, before I bought mine on eBay, one dealer told me they were almost impossible to get and very expensive ($700 just for changer) and referred me to an auto audio shop. That guy wanted almost as much as that dealer so that's when I took the eBay route.
