Strange tranny issue

Hey this is something i never thought to be a problem but idk i thought id ask.

My car when i shift it into a gear say drive, it will lunge forward as soon as i hit the gear and almost stall if i do not hold the brake with my foot. If i do, it will try to lunge foward but it wont, you can feel it and it wont almost stall it will be normal.

Now is this a normal thing?

Strange

This just recently started happening in my 97 e420 as well, in drive it leans forward even w/ my foot on the brake, reverse it leans backwards and when i put it in park it leans a little towards the last gear i had it in (either backwards or forwards) is this the same exact thing youre talking about?
not sure if this has anything to do with it but i do know i am due for a tranny fluid change @ 120,000 and im @ 116,500 now..

Did you try resetting the learning?

Nice looking car by the way. Mine looks like (*&^ in comparison.

Not sure what the OP's issue is....maybe something to do with the torque converter.

The second poster appears to have a bad shifter bushing or two.

97's have the 722.6 trans and need the proprietary MB fluid.

I reset the tranny, and mine still does it, so no luck there.
Shifter bushing cost?, procedure?, DIY?

Couple of bucks. Mine is green. Will take an hour+ cause the belly pan has to come off. May need a long pair of needle nose pliers to help get the new one it as it is very stiff rubber.

See #27. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp...SGR=095&SGN=09
