oil pan plug

oil pan plug
anyone ever have problems removing this? Tried to remove it with normal socket wrench.. ended up stripping it a bit.

I get my oil changed at one of those quick oil change places. They were a little miffed last time I went in there because they broke a craftsman open ended wrench on my oil pan plug. they were really worried about cracking the pan while trying to loosen that bolt. It seems to work OK though, 104k miles and doesn't leak a drop.

Mercedes sells a Very Nice Factory tool for the drain plug with a Allen socket on the other end for removing the Allen plug on the diff... and Its not to bad on the Price! I Have seen Several oil pan dran plugs rounded off by the Incorrect tool ...Proper tool for the Job..No more problems...Or Use a Top Sider .that sucks the oil out through the dip stick..Also a great idea!

1999 Mercedes E300 TurboDiesel
I've had no problem with the drain plug on my E300, my mom's E300, and my TDI jetta..........since I installed the fumoto drain valves 
Both mine and my mom's E300's drain plugs, although replaced and torqued to spec with a new washer, would slowly leak oil. 5k on the E300 and 12k on my TDI with the fumotos, not a hint of oil leak.
