E430 door lock problem
common with E models
- to isolate/eliminate the most common source, tape a penny opposite the
door pin. when the door closes it should (with penny pressing the door pin)
press the switch deeper, thus ensuring that the circuit is open (ie not
completing a circuit).
when the door pin is marginally about to fail, and with door closed, there is
enough play in the door switch/pin, plus road vibrations...that it believes the
door is open, thus closing the light circuit...activating the logic command to
unlock the door, and even possibly turning on the interior light.
- fortunately, the door switch/pin is roughly $20 part and an easy R&R.
