Check Coolant Malfunction light
My check coolant level malfunction keeps popping up. The dealer tells me that I can add it myself. They also tell me that it is not the green coolant, but some pink type.
Does anyone know the brand of coolant that I should buy? The dealers around here require an appointment for such complicated work!

The owner's manual says to top off with water between changes/flushes of coolant. However, if it's really low you probably have a leak and need more than just a few ounces, i.e., have the system checked.

Top off with water is OK
It's OK to top off with only water. If the Coolant level still goes down then there's a leak somewhere. Normally, if it's leaking you should smell it (the coolant) when the engine is hot.
About the coolant, there are 2 kinds: one that needs to be mixed with water (50/50) and the other is ready to use (already mixed with water). They could be green, yellow and also pink. According to Mercedes, they recommend to use the Mercedes product (coolant). The color? I haven't seen it. Good luck.

Use only MB coolant.
Just call the service department and ask for the MB coolant part number. It is a little more expensive then your regular green stuff but its better for the engine. All benzes use this pink/orange fluid. Less corrosive is what I heard. The cheap green stuff is corrosive and on my old benz it caused leaks. The radiator bottom neck pipe was corroded and leaked all the time.

My E55 has a coolant leak somewhere. The light came on, and i can see fluid collecting on top of the underbody shield, but the odd thing is that the coolant level has not changed in the reservoir. Anyway, you can go to Autohausaz.com i believe and they will have the coolant required. That site is so cheap for AMG parts.

If it says coolant display malfunctioning then you should check the sensor on the deposit or on the windshild washer deposit it happend to my uncles car and he changed the washer deposit sensor on the bottle , sometimes the computer confuses the one with the other even with engine oil level . check all levels and then the sensors
