2000 E430 Power Steering Pump Rem/Install

It would be great if someone could give me an exact how to on this. It seems pretty straight forward looking at it, but looks are sometimes deceiving. Thanks, Damon

ML320cdi, F250dsl.
It is very simple, there is a #8 or #10 torx bolt and a large C-clip holding the fluid reservoir on to the pump. Remove the reservoir first, take the Belt off. There are two torx bolts on the back of the pump and two in front, #10 or #12 torx (can't remember which size). You might have to hold the belt tensioner to the side to get to one of the bolts in front, but thats about it.

Make sure you turn the steering wheel from side to side after you install the new pump, before you start the engine. Don't want to run the new pump dry.

Whats wrong with yours now? Mine, 97 E420, had a small leak behind the pulley. Threw fluid over into the left front fender area behind the headlight assembly. Someone told me about replacing just the seal behind the pulley. It was really a simple "diy". The parts, seal kit from MB and fluid, were only about $20.00. Pulled the pulley off, took the pump mechanism out of the pump housing, pushed the old brittle seal out, pushed the new one in, replaced the pump into the housing and filled up the reservoir. The total job took only about 1 1/2 hours.........and I fly jets. No master tech here just used my head alittle......which gave me a headache afterwards!

Thanks for the reply. It turned out not to be the power steering pump.
