Unhappy 2002 E320 Sun Visor

The tabs that hold the mirror broke off from the sun visor . I don't want to get a replica/after-market stuff. Do you know where I can get the used parts from? Anyone has changed it yourself before? Thanks for your time.

I think you mean the tabs of the plastic flap that covers the mirror and turns the light on. I fixed mine by drilling out the broken tab and glueing in a new one made from a piece of plastic tree from a model car kit. The flap is not available as a separate part from the dealer so you have to buy the entire visor for $180. Finding a used one in good condition in the color you want will be tough and you'll still probably have to pay 50% of dealer price which is typical of breakers yards.

FOSMITH - thank you. I opt to go with your advice. My friend who works at the MB dealership menitoned that the mirror flap by itself is available from MB for $63 and free snap-in installation . I love that. Will update after visiting them this evening.

Can you ask him for a part number? My dealer told me that it's not available separate from the whole visor. Thanks,
Fred

MB Part Number: 210-810-25-10 Sun Visor Made in Germany
Dealer Price $63 + tax
Installation was as easy as snap-in.

The plastic frame where the vanity mirror is mounted can be pulled out. Press snap-in the new one in place of the old - good to go.

jojuseb, Thanks for the part number. Just so I'm clear, this is the plastic bezel and the mirror? Does it also include the flap that covers the mirror and has the airbag warning sticker on the outside? The parts guy at the dealer told me that it was just the bezel without the flap but the whole thing seems like one assembly.
Thanks,
Fred

It includes everything you mentioned less the stickers - mirror, flap and the frame. The stickers I peeled off the old one and put in on the new one. Ask the dealer to show you the package. Mine is E320 - your is not - now I wonder whether they don't have the same for your model.

Thanks for clearing that up. I think the guy at the parts counter got confused or the picture in the parts catalogue isn't clear. They didn't have it in stock so they couldn't look at it unless I special ordered it. There can't be any difference in the visors between the 320 and 430.

There are no difference across the different engines. I have the same part number for the mirror assembly including the flap for my 220CDI. A210 810 25 10 + color code.

In EPC the part is called "Mirror Frame" and that is probably the reason for all the confusion. If it had said "Mirror Assembly" or something it wouldn't be a problem...

THere are also four part numbers for the airbag stickers

A2038170520 - GUIDE SIGN. Note for airbag on driver and passenger sun visor, interior (460)
A2038170220 - GUIDE SIGN. Note for airbag on driver and passenger sun visor, interior (-460)
A2038170620 - GUIDE SIGN. Note for airbag on driver and passenger sun visor, exterior (460)
A2038170320 - GUIDE SIGN. Note for airbag on driver and passenger sun visor, exterior (-460)

Code 460 is vehicles for canada, So I guess you from the states should be using the -460 part numbers maybe ?

and if you were wondering, the one marked interior is the one on the flap, the one marked exterior is the one on the outside of the sun visor

I don't need any details, I just gave you guys the details

I have already bought the mirror assemblies myself, and the flap was included in that part number..

Fred:

The response from the dealer:

We need a VIN number to look up the correct part and we also need to know if it is for the left side or right side. Regardless of what color or side they are $150 each before tax and need to be Special Ordered and Pre Paid.<?xml:namespace prefix = o /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
Thank you,<o:p></o:p>

That sounds like they are trying to sell you the entire visor. Try calling another dealer.

Thanks for sending that but post #12 has the part number and they only need the vin to get the interior color code. I think the last poster is right, they are quoting the price for the entire visor.
