W210 Tail Lights

Hey guys, im looking to upgrade my tail lights. I am debating on wither to get smoke tail lights like the E55or smoke(black) tail lights with led's in them what do you guys think? I have looked at pictures but im still unsure if i like the looks of the led's when they are lit up at night.
As far as OEM compared to aftermarket will i be loosing a lot of light output or nothing really noticeable?

Also i would appreciate if someone could recommend me a website or a good seller where i could purchase tail lights from. Thank you.

I have Smoked LED Tails and I love them. They are made by eagle eyes. They are bright but the problem is from any angle except right behind the light, it gets harder and harder to see that the light is on. And also its a good thing to seal the light with silicone to prevent leaking. I can show u Pictures if you want.
It definately looks great but if ur looking for function over looks, get the OEM taillights.

yeah please do show me some pictures. If you can show me night pics and day pics that would be cool, But either way show me what you can. And really i didnt know that from the side that the farther you go its harder to see the lights actually on. Is there a website you bought these from?

Look in my Thread "W210 Black series from Germany" - i have got these LED Tail Light Black/Red - i have painted the "black" area with black again - but the rest is original.
The Light Power is perfect - and at Ebay there are a lot of seller (normally they all have these Lights from one manufacturer)

Because love the look when it`s Black/red - but original the look is grey/red.

Look at the pictures - the first is painted - the second original

Don't buy tails from Ebay. They are all junk. I just gave away a set of those I had in the garage...for free.

hey there rbrenton i just looked at the pricing not sure what style tail lamp design (pre or facelift) i would be getting i just see "tail light" etc and the price. How does this work who do i pay you?
And what do i pay? the dealer list price?

How much would a complete pair of E55 tail lights complete pair cost? Im assuming these are all OEM parts.
Thanks for you help

RBrenton is right, in some aspects. You run a great risk of getting a really junky pair off ebay, but then again you can still get a decent pair. If you go for the E55 non-led Tails, you most likely will get crap. So do not try that! I bought a pair and they didnt work right. They were completely unusable. However I bought Eagle Eyes LED tails of ebay and they work great! I did seal them up a second time just in case though but that was no biggie.

Here are pictures of the tails. I can take night pics if you want i have just been busy. BTW The only pic the lights are not on in is the first one. They are bright. However this is only the brightness when you have the lights on. When you step on the brake they get much brighter. But you can tell from the pics that it does get harder to see the lights from different side angles.

We must have bought our E55 style from the same vendor. I bought a set of E55 non-led tails from ebay as well and they didn't even work. The only light that did work was the driver side turn signal. I'll look into those Eagle Eye LED ones.

LED tail light wiring ?

looking at getting LED tail lights,
http://www.nengun.com/unknown/e-clas...ight-set-17207

or similar,

but worried about the wiring, since the LED's are on the outside,
the brake light bulb would be on the inside,
what is opposite from what I have now.

did you have to change the wiring ?

do like the idea , of having a regular bulb for brakes,
since those have to be much brighter.
maybe the turn lights to change out with LED's.

if the smoked ones are not to dark, I'll go with that, just don't want a ticket,...

next mirror turn lights, and depo headlights, hella 90mm mod

the thread may be dated, but the latest query still has merit and serves to bump
and resurrect the thread. folks reading this can update with newer info if they
have it. no harm

I think there are way too many different threads talk about LED tail lights. This https://mbworld.org/forums/5549455-post10.html is the latest of my project. The Eagle eyes/spyder, etc LEDs are not going to be as bright since they use crappy LEDs. You need to desolder the old LEDs on the circuit board and solder with Philips Luminleds and new resistors to get the brightest result.

I actually bought a new set of LED tail light last week from ebay because I broke some of the tabs in the back of the assembly when I reinstalled them. Plus I am going to put another layer of seal to make sure they are 100% water resistant this time.

Basically, the aftermarket LED tail light won't be any good unless you modify them. It's just like the DEPO headlights if you want a nice pattern (projector swap)
