Computer Issues ???
I finally got my 1997 E320 to run after the engine swap.
The Throttle/Idle control computer has an issue. If you tap on it the car will start after cranking for about 30 seconds. The service guys at the deals told me to get another computer with the same identification makings which I did, it should be here today. The dealer was $1100.00
After I went thru the purchase of the new computer the service guys are now telling me that the computers are all married together and I would have to change many other parts to get the new one to work.
Is this tru???

If You Bought a NEW replacement ME control unit for the HFM 3.2 I 6 it was ordered from MBUSA with your vin number..So When It arrived its a replacement ME control unit
It will be plug and play..No other changes required..

Since its used then yes the dealer is correct...
The W210 has a EIS electronic ignition switch that is matched with the ME control unit..see if you can get the matching parts from the SAME car...
otherwise a new ME is the only other option
One cannot reprogram a ME control unit once its locked
