Best Wiper for W210
From experience, what is the best wiper blade available. Bosch Icon, Trico, Valeo, PIAA? Any ideas?

I always use the MB blade. $21 installed. From my experience the only advantage to the other brands is that you can get winter blades which can make a huge difference. But I've never put one on the W210.

I just installed the Trico Teflon blade last week ($16.99) works fine for me up in Boston. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

I would stay with the Mercedes blade. I think Bosch makes it but not in the 25" length for the off the shelf Ikon line so you have to use a 24" or find some way to shorten a 26". Too bothersome for me.

I seriously doubt it, but my main issue with another brand of blade is the lengths in which they are, or are not, available. As far as I know, the only way to get a 25" blade for the monowiper W210 is from Mercedes.

I got the Bosch equivalent to the MB blade by going to the Bosch USA site and plugging in my vehicle/model/year and getting the recommendation.
I then went to amazon and found the blades and ordered.
Because my car was 10 yrs old I bought the whole assembly but will just get the refill for the next few years. BTW, looked identical to the ones I removed.
Front Blade (25") is Bosch 3397012455 $29.74 (as of 10/15/07)
Rear Blade is Bosch 40716A Micro edge $9.97 (same date)

That's funny and sounds very familiar; we should get our girls together, let them go shoe shopping, and then we can chat about our MBs over a couple of Sam Adams! BTW, I was born in Beantown but we've been down here for a long time.

I want to update the information about the Bosch wiper blades I posted above.
When I bought these blades, I ASSUMED I could get refills. However, while looking for something else in the archives of another site I found a post in which Kent Christenson (sp?) noted that Bosch does not sell refills for the MB OEM wiper blades. A check on their site and online vendors seems to confirm that. So if you want to stick with the MB OEM blade AND use refills you will have to deal with the dealer or third party with genuine MB parts.
Also, I found a far better price than amazon. Rock Auto has the Bosch front OEM wiper blade for $16.60 vs. the $29+ from amazon.

I vote for the Peak brand wipers that are available in Menards (if you are in mid-west). They make a standard and a winter blade.
Menards will have them on sale periodically for $3 (standard) - $5 (winter) for the 24" blades. I usually buy 2 of each and they last about a year for both my W210's.

I've been using my OEM wiper blade for 5 yrs now. Silent, no streaks, no
chatter or squeaks. Every several weeks, I spray silicone on a rag and,
using a see-saw motion, work it into the blade. Can of this stuff was $5.
I have indoor parking so UV and weathering is minimized. Lucky, I guess.

I was born and raised in NYC, but moved to Boston at age 12. It's..so...COLD! haha
My girl says sarcastically "we've had my car for over a year, you haven't added anything, detailed it, added tints, or wiped it down with a baby diaper. But YOURS, oh yours need the whole shabam!" I just start laughing....and respond, busting her chops "Come on, you have a Civic!" lmao!!

I'm a nut now that I have this car. Maybe because I just got it, who knows. Everytime I get out of it, or walk up to it. I do a walk around, and most of the time I go "DAM! Is this beautiful thang mine?!" haha. She just shakes her head...

silicon spray in a can that i grabbed off the shelf at auto parts store. i
bought it primarily to use for motorcycle parts which are more exposed
and stuff but back in 03, when i was hunting down proper size wiper
blades (when the current blade was chirping) i figured 'whutheheck'
since i had Bosch blades inbound. this has worked out so well that the
then chirping blade is still on the car....and the new blades in a box
still waiting to be drafted for duty. yes, this is anecdotal but really,
i've not done anything else but treat the blade with silicone...and no
more than about 30 seconds....then i'm back on MBWorld and stuff.

Tip on making your blades last longer.
I started putting back my old wiper blade assembly when the rainny season is over and put on the good (or newer) ones back on the car right before the rain season starts.
Since it is hardly ever used in the summer months and I am sure the heat kills the rubber quicker...this way the wiper inserts will last longer.

A nice advantage living in Northern CA. Here in Chicago, it rained on Saturday, changed to freezing rain by evening, then dropped down to 5deg Sunday night and 7 deg last night. Snowing right now. We need good blades all season here in the midwest.

Exactly!!
The only reason I started doing this is because I had a hard time finding the correct size at local auto parts stores. Only dealerships has it and we all know their prices..they used to sell inserts only...now you have to buy the entire arm assembly with the wiper blade...which is a waste and not necessary.

As I mentioned in my post above I found the Bosch equivalent to the MB blade (25"). It's the whole assembly and the best price I found is about $16.50 at Rock Auto (www.rockauto.com). Not as good as a refill but less than the dealer wants I'll bet. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

just
do not drive on the rain MB and you do not need blades ever to replace....
ha ha h hah ha just kidding
this great car need from time to time some good blades I used Trico Teflon one time .They are good but Bosh is better on winter time.
Dealer, to much money. You can get any brand because it is not big deal to replace it once a year, don't you think so?
