Bulb preference for W211 bixenon retrofit

I had retrofitted my old D2R bulbs from my stock xenons over to my Depo/W211 bixenon headlights. The bulbs have burned out and I need new ones.

I've been researching and it seems the Philips D2S 4300K 85122+ bulbs are really good. I think they are 3400 lumens. I want to stick with the 4300K coloring.

Anyone installed these in their retrofits? If so, what has been your experience? What other bulbs have you guys used that have achieved satisfactory results? Thanks,

keeping in mind that the street price for OEM D2S bulbs are about $80 shipped,
the 85122+ are going for about $180. there is a slight, just discernable
difference in perceived brightness. but for me, not enough to pay $100 more.
this is what i currently have in my E55 projectors (within Depo housing).

When I did my RS6 Bix retro, I too went with the Philips 85122+. However, they're going for a much cheaper rate of ~$80 than the aforementioned $180. Here's an eBay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-P...Q5fAccessories

PS: I also found CLEAR lenses for my retro, so I will be taking apart my Depo's and replacing my fresnel lenses with clear lenses! Yahoo!

Thanks for the response guys. I went with the 85122+ bulbs. I got a pair of used bulbs with a one year warranty for $65 shipped. I didn't think that was a bad price and if they only last a year then so be it.

oooh i bought them during the rage on this "+" bulb. glad to hear it's lower
now. let me know how you like them compared to the regular OEM model.

I have the "Z-something" clear lens also, and needing to get around to
swapping them out, too. hope it is worth the money.

My Depos came with clear lenses. What new lenses are you guys referring to for the Depos?

I have one car with standard hella e55 and one with hella e55 with some zkw replica clear lenses from the retrofit source. The cutoff on the ones with clear lenses is RAZOR sharp! I don't see any difference in the performance though.... But a sharper cutoff is much cooler, I'm the only one who sees it though It has also some more blue color in the cutoff.

I think I have the 85122+ bulbs (at least that's what it says on the socket) and the light is actually yellow. Much light though, but I'm not sure if I can see the difference between these and my dad's standard hella e55 with 85126 (OEM D2R)..

Funny. They looked clear to me. Where can I get clear lenses for the W211 projectors?

they are almost clear, but if you look closely there are some "circles" in the glass.

you can find clear lenses here http://store.theretrofitsource.com/i...62d471c5d40169

if you have the e55/hella bi-xenon you would want the zkw 3'' replica lenses
