Just sold the 97 E420......

Well folks I just sold my 1997 E420 with 175,000 miles. Who would have thought you could sell a car on Easter Sunday? But cash is King and Ebay works wonders! Listed it last evening, got 8 bids today and a local guy hit the "buy it now button" this afternoon. (Maybe I sold it too cheap?) A BEAUTIFUL car too I might add. He got a very, very nice car. I drove it almost 30,000 miles since 9/06. Spent a TON on it but enjoyed every minute of the ride as Greg would say.

All is not lost though. Yesterday I contracted to buy a 2001 E430 which I get on Tuesday, waiting on a check. A "clone" so to speak of the 97 E420. White with gray and only 115,000 highway miles. A one family car, two titled owners, a father then his daughter as a gift for her. Clean Carfax local car since new. She sold it to pay for an upcoming wedding. Has a cat problem as I've posted here but the price was negotiated to cover that cost. All in all I got a good price for the 97 E420 and paid a fairly good price for the E430. About a $3,000 difference. Not a bad trade off. Move up 4 years and go back 60,000 miles.

I put alot of effort, blood sweat and tears, in the 97 E420. It was a joy to own/drive and has made me a Benz guy for the rest of my life. Cant wait to get my hands on the E430. Even with 175,000 miles the E420 was a great car and I would not hesitate to drive it to Hawaii if it could float.

OK, just a little bit sentimental ..........but Tuesday the new ride arrives!!

Jeff

Congrats Jeff. Hope all works out well for you. My brother flyes a Grumman 110 out of Margate Florida. Pristine restoration with 8th Army Air force markings in WW2 style to honor our Dad and has flown in the Aluminum Overcast as have I. A buddy in Canada has a Star Fighter as his private er plane and was at the airshow in Toronto a year ago. We watched as he went vertical with max afterburn going straight to the show ceiling in the blink of an eye. He flies commercial I believe for Continental. Nice private ride. Anyway jets is another passion. Congrats again and welcome to the new ride.

99' E320 4MATIC ESTATE / 92' 190E 2.6
I have been a GM truck guy for as long as I can remember. My wife had a hand me down 560sl/ last production year. 89'? Any who, we inherited a family 190e/92' 2.6l. Then married and bought our wagon. I recently sold the truck and have been driving both mb's for the last year. I too am a mercedes guy from here on out. I'm looking to buy another wagon/post facelift so I can get the 4matic from the wife. Love the "star" 210's rule!
