Problems with factory Bose systems
Well, it happened again. My complete Bose system was replaced under warranty in August, 2002. In December, the system went out again. I received "No CD Changer" and "No Phone displays on the dash readout. Took it back to dealer and they replaced some "module" that had gone bad. I have had nothing but problems with this crappy audio system.
I also had them defeat the annoying Automatic Sound Control which is such an unnecessary, idiotic feature.
Anyone have any similar experiences or other info. about this problem?

Almost on a daily basis, I get a "No Magazine" display. I will open the trunk, take out the magazine, shove it back in, and that usually fixes it. Should I really have to be doing this on a $57,000 car? I don't think so. M-B should put a 1st class, trouble-free, non-Bose audio system in the car from the factory. Again, I say BOSE SUX!

If u come up with a fix pls let me know, being i dislike leaving my car at the dlr, id rather pop my trunk and do that little fix, for now until there is a permanent fix, as of now, i know many with same problem, hasnt been resolved yet, but if urs gets frixed let me know what u did, i wanna fix mine also but wont take it to dlr yet

Well, like I said.......dealer has fixed mine twice under warranty. Replaced the whole system the first time. It just a pain in the ***.

I just guessed that all 2000 can have this problem, since all complains came from 2000 owners. As I know electronics is very rarely go down, so problem can be just in wiring. Fiber optics cables are very fragile, just recently I replaced one cable in my home theater system, although this cable never been moved, it just got broken under own weight. What can I say about car's wiring vibrating all time. I saw a similar messages when disconnected fiber optic loop in my car for connecting CD changer. Problem can be related to connectors itself, so when your dealer replaced the unit, it did reconnection, but after some it could be loosen again. However, do not take much attention to my words, you problem can be different.

after replacing it the second time, was all ok? im skeptical about having the dlr rip out my whole system, and i know its minor and it will happen again anyway, i dilike the car being at the dlr, very dreaded

The dealer didn't have to replace entire system the 2nd time, just some module which I assume plugs in somewhere. Fiber optic cable is supposed to be more stable and reliable than metal wire, that is why M-B is using it. And as you, I HATE taking my car to the dealer. They usually screw something up unrelated to the repair or maintenance.

Is your stereo and phone still working? If so, the module is probably not bad. The bad module completely disables the system except the radio.
Regardless, will look for the part number on receipt.

yes it works, but like i said , once in a while i get the no cd message, i either reastart my car or i have to take out the cartridge and reinsert it, when it happens more often ill bring it to the dlr, i know they will say to bring it in when its actually happening, thanx for ur feedback, im happy we can share our experiences on ths forum

When you get the display, does it say: NO MAGAZINE or NO CD?
I have always gotten the no magazine display, and yes, I usually just re-insert it. I don't think there is a fix for that. The no CD message means that the system cannot find the CD changer. THAT is when you need the module replaced.
