97 Auxiliary fans won't come on!

I have checked fuses( but I am still not sure which one is specifically responsible for the auxiliary fan in particular)!

I unplugged the fan and connected it to a power source and it still remained still not even a slight jerk I tried tapping on it and still nothing .....they do spin freely My car has 120K miles on it now So it's time to replace it I just want to make sure it is the fan! When i unpluged the fan i turned on the engine (cold)turned tha ac on and plugged a voltmeter into the socket for the fan but got no voltage, I am not sure if it comes on after the engine gets to a certain temperture or of the fan is supposed to turn on right away when the A/C is switched on!

I am hoping it is only the fan thanks for your help!

Is the motor available by itself ? The dealer and autohaus only carry the entire auxiliary fan assembly!!

Pretty sure the fuse is the big 30amp fuse in the left hand fuse box in the engine compartment. I do know it is clearly labeled on the chart. If you've lost your chart, check the one stored beneath the rear seat.

The AUX fans only come on when certain refrigerant and coolant parameters are met. They do not run all the time that the AC is on.

Under the hood--- Fuse #22 is the big 30 amp Fuse handles the Wiper Load according to the chart in the fuse box cover

Under the seat---- Fuse #19 is 40 amps and handles the rear window defroster, ( flashing lights(for alarm system))

On my 99 it is "Engine Fan" fuse 20 (BIG 30A) and 41 (reg 15a). Both are located in the left side engine compartment fuse box.

To manually activate the AUX fans, press and hold both AUTO buttons on the CCU for +10 seconds. Fans should pulse and then run full speed.

Can't remember what key pos to use; just give it a try at position 0, 1 & 2 and one or the other will work.

How would you then turn them off?? Just curious.

OK...so you made me go test it agian to see.

Its key to pos 2, hold both autos for 10+ secs and then key off to stop.

Make sure both spin. The 98-99 only has one motor with a thin belt and a slave. If only one spins the belt is broken.

Thanks for all the help guys .
My car I actually had to hold the AUTO buttons for 15 seconds and the fans would sometimmes turn on sometimes they didn't I tapped on the fan motor and it finally came on then it didnt then it did .....these fans are not turned on at full voltage either not even when the ac is on ..the voltage suplied to the fan is variable controlled by a the fan controller.....

Anyway I got the fan @ peachparts .com and bought the belt as well 138$ for the fan 8$ for the belt and they gave me a 1 year warranty much better than that 30 or 90 day warranty at other places ,they were also the only ones that sold me the fan motor by itself w/o the entire assembly like other places.

The brand was VEMO I never heard of it but when i got it it turns out it is a german brand the make electronics for european cars the instructions were in germanas well so I feel good about it.

Just one thing when i installed it i matched the brown and black wires from the fan to the brown and black wires from the harness on the car.

However the fan spun in the wrong direction. Seems they got the colors reversed per polarity. Simple fix just undo the insulator which you have to reuse from the original fan and hook up the brown to the black and the black to the brown. seems this is common with aftermarket fans. I saw a few guys talk about it on the forum.

That was all cars working great .... thanks for all your help!!!
