Whats my E55 worth?

Hey guys...going back and forth with selling the E55. I love this car more than anything but honestly it's getting me in trouble. Can't control stepping on it. I've accumulated some speeding tickets and the illegal street races are just dangerous but I can never back down! Anyway here's what I got:

2001 E55 black/black
95k
heated/ventalated seats
navigation
argos bluetooth
k40 radar front/rear built in the dash
Brand new rear tires 4/09
New motor mounts
akebono pads 4/09
Service B was just done 4/09

It's in immaculate condition...not like anybody's E55 on here isn't

So what is an honest price to ask for it? It has some great options and its under 100k for a 9 year old car.

i would say around $16-17k if you want to sell it fast. more than that might take a while to sell.

Sorry, that may have been true a year ago but in this market, but I doubt you will get that much for it. Here in the SF Bay Area, I've seen nice facelift E55s with mileage in the 70s asking $15K go unsold on Craigslist for months. There's one that looks nice in the pics with 113K miles that can't sell for $12K. There's one immaculate local, one owner car, all records, mileage in the 90s that has been for sale for months at $17,900.

Seems crazy for such a great car I know, but there it is...

More people have moved on to the W211 E55 - especially since the prices have dropped down into the 20's for the earlier ones (04, 05).

The release of the W212 next year will really make prices drop.

Economically I'd say keep it because for the money you would get for it another car won’t compare - unless you just want another car.

You might want to remove the argos and K40 and sell them separately. That will net you much more cash. Expensive add-on equipments won't add much value to resale/trade-in.

How do you get several speeding tickets with the K40 in your car ?

Here in SoCal, car like yours might get at most $12K, and even at that price, it's a hard sale.

Good point, I may do that...

Most of my speeding tickets have been from ripping it on the city streets. I like doing that more than going 160 on the highway. So theres nothing the k40 can do about a short peel out session as opposed to the highway.

I had an s4 come up to me yesterday at a light, I can't resist that. Of course I blew him away. So theres the reason for the tickets

the car isn't the problem, the driver is.

You need to grow up and control yourself like an adult.

Advertising how you drive it isn't helping your resale value within these circles.

If that's the case then so be it. I'd say most of the E55 drivers drive hard, thats what the car was made for.

I would love to experience driving one of those. I'm impressed with the power of my e320; the 55 must be incredible!!!

I had a 2000 E320 before I found the E55. It's night and day. I felt the same way about my 320 it deffinately had some pickup but now I don't even know how to explain the 55. It's a machine. I've had it for 8 months now and it seems to get faster each day. my imagination plays tricks on me!

You laugh i've often thought of that...I just would lose sleep at night losing that engine. If I sell the 55 I need another AMG or else i'll be severely depressed while driving. I'm only 22, what a bad idea it was getting an AMG this young! looks like i'm going to own a lot of AMG's in my lifetime!

I'd say keep the E55 but you need to practice some discipline. If you can't then get rid of it. We want to see you safe and healthy around here for a long time.

well, it needed to be said. You're clearly immature, and you're 22, not 17. Maybe its time to control yourself like a big boy.

Well lets be honest here. Its worth however much someone is willing to pay for it. Here in Upstate NY you be better off to trade something like that in. Its a lot of money for a lot of miles. But depends on where you are as well. Some places people tend to get more for their cars. I would try KBB or NADA. Are you looking to replace it or just get rid of it?

That is true except every ricer teenager I see around here has a Civic with a turbo like you said except the next time you see them they are driving a different car because they either crashed the POS and made the evening news or instead of putting money into servicing the car they blow it on a stupid turbo that kills the motor

Yeah you probably won't be able to get much for it. Unfortunately (or fortunately) for cars, the nicer, more advanced, and more "prestigious" they are, the harder they fall when the years and mileage add up (exotics/rarities excluded). I'd way rather cruise in an '01 E55 which is like a $90K car, for the purchase price of under $14K than an' '09 Malibu as my daily.... But I just don't like having a car that might financially be akin to flushing my money down a toilet if things go wrong with it, unless I'm in love with it and it's my automotive pride and joy, not to mention the stress of having to deal with the problems. The more engineered the car, the more pain you'll feel when it starts acting up, hence the low resale value.

I say just keep it and enjoy it if you love it. Then concentrate on getting something different as a beater or primary car in a few years when you've got more money

As for the speed thing, it does suck to hear, but all you gotta do is have some self control. I know people with led foots who have Civics that get Tickets. The W210 E55 is fast, but it's not like you have a 800 lb/ft Torque monster under the hood that is near impossible to drive slow.

Ok let me clear up some things for the "disciplinaries" on the forum here. Yes, I drive fast because I do have close to 400 ft/lbs of torque. Do I do it everyday? Of course not. It's the times when I just feel like stepping on it and it's fun. So obviously I don't get in my car everyday and drive like tony stewart up and down the streets. I hope this clears everything up for you Oliverk.

Secondly, half of the other reason I want to sell my car, which I didn't mention in the original posting becasue I didn't want to ramble on about something off topic, is that I have bought 3 investment properties in the past year so it would be a help to get rid of a big car payment that I have lingering when it could be used for other things.

So Oliverk i'm not that immature afterall, maybe I drive fast every now and then but your immaturity comment is not needed on my thread. You still havent answered my original posting questions so why keep commenting.

Yeah, so even if you get 12K its still reasonable considering its almost been a year.
