engine vibration at idle

Hi,

I have a 97 E420 and I recently noticed a engine vibration when I am at idle. The needle kinda moves back and forth between 500 rpm and 700 rpm which makes a unpleasant vibration to the car at idle.

Does anyone else have this experience and how can I solve it?

Try getting the oxygen sensors checked.

vibration

I started my 97 E420 (65000 miles) the other day and noticed a noise coming from the engine along with strong vibration which could be felt on the steering wheel. Also, when I turned off the car, I smelled something, not sure what it was.

I called the dealer and had him listen to the noise over the phone. He said that his guess would be a belt problem. Since I live about 1 hour from the dealership, he is having my car towed to the dealership this morning.

We'll see what happens....
