w210 multi contour seats

I'm shopping for (and researching) a w210 wagon. I've test driven 5 of them now. None of them had (that I could tell) the "multi contour" seats in front (if that's what they're called.)

Someone here suggested it is possible to swap out the front seat(s) for these upgraded (better?) seats.

How much might this cost? Do you have to buy them new, or are they pretty easy to find on the used parts / junk market?

What do the upgraded seats offer over the standard seats? (Lumbar support I hope?)

Thanks,
Kieran

- more contoured cushions

- adj. air bladders: front edge of seat bottom, left/right side of seat bottom,
left/right side of seat back, lumbar, and below lumbar region. each bladder
is metered through air control pod located between seat bottom and center
console.

- leather may be different/higher quality over std E320 leather, especially
if part of the Designo package

- cost is whatever the seller has tagged it...usually from a salvaged vehicle.
I paid $1500 for mine, front seats, rear bench and back, door inserts, and
matching headrests. If I remember correctly, it originally was offered by
Potomac German auto

- finding multi contour with matching leather to your rear seats and door
inserts will be challenging

- you'll need to source hoses and t-fittings for each chair....back to the
PSE pump beneath the rear seat, ending with version coding so that the
car knows that the seats are there.

I have them and have never used them in 8 years. Its just one more gadget you can say your car has.

If they offer better lumbar support than the standard seats, I'll use them every day.

I haven't changed mine in about 8 years either. I guess I do use them every day because I sit in the seat. I do like the improved side bolsters for those times the wife and I go out drifting.

hey, Mark. we were discussing over on the other board steering wheel
mods. if memory serves, don't you have an older 210 in which the steering
wheel was upgraded to a model which sports the control buttons....and
which controls COMMAND? I couldn't remember which model year you
have. tnx

My W210 is a 2000 model update that has multi function steering wheel.

But one can add the multifunction steering wheel to a early car...
takes a replacement contact ring ..wiring and a steering wheel with air bag

Easiest way to tell if a car your looking at has them is the controls. As mentioned they are located between the lower seat cushion and the center console just in front of the seat belt anchor. Three slider/rocker 'switches' in a black plastic pod to control pressure in the bladders. I guess it's personal taste mostly. I think mine are one of the nicest features on the car and make the seat much more comfortable. BTW, I'd seen them referred to as orthopedic seats but I think 'multi-contour' is the MB designation.
