E420 (1997) Transmission
Hey again guys,
This Mercedes is actually my first automatic transmission car, so I know nothing about it, except that if it dies, it will cost me an arm and a leg. So I'd like to do all I can so it lasts forever.
I just purchased the car at 147K miles. The previous owner got the transmission serviced at 110K. So my question is, how often you need to service the transmission, and what exactly does that means? Changing the fluid?
It runs great, I just want to keep it that way!

Trans service is normally to drop the pan, replace the filter, and change the fluid. Basically like an oil change for your motor.
I think every 60k miles is probably good, or if the trans starts to shift rough. If it drives ok, you're probably good for another year or two.
