The horn on my E300 sounds like an American car style horn. I'm not terribly fond of its sound. My old 190D had a great German style sounding horn which was pretty cool. Does anyone know where I can purchase the German style sounding horn? Thanks,

Check the Hella models. The Supertones are crazy loud and say "get off your cell phone and pay attention." Depends what you like. If you google, you can find different decibel and frequency ratings for different brands (Hella, FIAMM, PIAA) and different models.

This is my setup

I never liked the new tone when Mercedes switched to the American style tone either. These Hella Supertones have the classic tone and a big BLAST to boot!

They are hooked up to original wiring harness and no holes were drilled. Cable from RH horn under headlamp needs to be unplugged and guided through to front of radiator. I made a short extension for this cable so it could be attached neatly.

On pre facelift 210 they may not fit though. These horns are big for that space even on facelifted model.

Cheers

someone here one one of the forums pulled this off (train horn). they had
to yank out the spare tire though to reclaim that space for the compressor.
