am interested in changing color of star onthe trunk . anyone know how to remove the star emblem on the trunk.thx for the advice

i used dental floss on my 99 to remove the model designation from the trunk. then had the residue removed when the car was detailed. shadow may remain depending on the age/condition of the surrounding paint.

i did that also for the numbers. but the star is held by pins attached to the trunk..

how do u remove the star itself though.

You need to take down the trunk lid liner behind the star to get at the plugs holding the star pins that go through the lid.

you can get a replacement star from the dealer for 10 bux. or go to ebay at 8.50 but have shipping charges

How do you re-attach the star? Do you use glue or do you melt the pins down like rivets?

What year is your car 007??? On my 2002 E320, the star on the trunk is a push-in style star. You'll need to extract it carefully using a flat plastic tool being careful not to pop it out too much from either side and not damage the paint. Remember, a little bit at a time and use patience. Pressure is the only thing that holds it in place. To replace it, simply push it in place. IMPORTANT...make sure that you put it in correctly with the point facing up. There is a right side up on this thing because of the way the trunk is molded. The top portion of the MB star looks to be bent inward to flow with the trunk. Not sure how else to describe this part. Just remember the bent portion of the MB star goes up.
