front lic. plate bracket mounting

My 210 wagon came with no front license plate bracket. I convinced the seller that since state law requires a lic. plate on front and back, that he needed to supply the OEM bracket... which he finally did do.

Now, how to mount the thing? There are a couple holes for screws... but no matching holes in the bumper. Do I just drill into the plastic of the bumper? If so, how far? What screws should I use? Any other tips?

Thanks!

Not sure, I took it off and threw it all away as soon as I bought the car.

My license plate isn't mounted to my bumper either. There was no mount for it so I just used some zip ties and metal wire and tied it to the mesh grille in the middle of the bumper. It doesn't look bad at all if you ask me. I've got pics if anyone is wondering.

Drilling into the front bumper should be illegal on any car.

MB’s of all kinds.
I really would not worry about it. I bought my 2002 E320 new out of state and NYS says you need one. Its now 2010 and have the car since 02. Never got pulled over for that reason.

id also say just leave the front plate off I have a european plate on the front of my car and have never been pulled over for that reason.
One it looks ugly
Two it damages your front bumper considering you have to drill into it. And if your really that concerned about having a front plate just put it up in the front window and no one will say a thing

Same here. I bought my 2002 E320 in Florida. No fromt plates, no holes in the bumper. It's now 2010.....never been stopped. If I do, I'll tell them the wife pulled up to far onto a curb and ripped it off and a new bracket is being sent to me from Germany officer.
