Question on 1995 e420 and 1997 e420 engine

I recently received a 1997 e420 w/ a seized engine from a customer of mine. I was wondering if the 1995 e420 engine is compatible or the same as a 1997 e420. If so is everything the same or do i need to swap any sensor, parts, etc.

My 1997 e420 is equipped with a 4.2L v8. Thank you in advanced

If they are identical, they will have the same part numbers. I doubt they are, since the two years are across two models (W210 launched in '96). That would mean some differences to get it to fit (potentially including tranny bell housing mounting), but I don't think there were any big changes in the final two years of the engine's product life. In '96 they launched with OBDII diagnostics, but I don't think that required any new sensors.
