w210 shifter
The shifter in my 1999 e430 would not go out of park. I had it towed and we are looking for another shifter. There are for bolts to take the shifter out of position but it does not pull out. Does anyone know what else needs to be removed?

is this one of those ailments which is a symptom of liquid spill? there should
be an indent next to the 1st gear slot which allows you to poke a pencil/pen
thereby releasing the shift/lock.
perhaps you've already eliminated this possibility.
