Where did you get the MAF you installed? It sounds like it may not be compatible.

Reason I asked is that some people have purchased MAF's online which are for VW or copies from Far East and couldn't get them to work. Must be another issue.

Good luck.

2001 E55 OMG
Check around the air intake manifold. There is a tiny hose that comes from underneath (leading to a vacuum pump I think) in the front of the intake that becomes really brittle and crumbles. That is a pain in the butt to repair. Also the manifold is sealed like the breather covers, with RTV. Mine were leaking around that mileage, so I had to uninstall the air intake, separate it, decided to clean the inside (thats fun) and reseal. While I was there I replaced the manifold gaskets, throttle body seal, clean the throttle body, and egr seals. P0170 is gone. The issue was the air intake but while I was there, I took care of the rest.

Another symptom I had was an unsteady tachometer at speed. When I would let off the gas, the car would surge and drop.
