just bought this car trying to chase this. i just replaced all the spark plugs the coil pack for cylinder 6 and the wires on cylinder 6. reset the codes. car still has a defenite miss at idle. feels no different at all. whats next? MAF? no noises just a rough idle. car drives good otherwise.

What's your mileage on the car? Depending on the mileage, I'd be leaning toward an issue with the 02 sensor and or cats...happened on my old 00 E320 - shortly after I went through 2 MAF's - covered under warranty. This happened around 110k...if the cats and sensors are originals, then they may be your culprit...

As for codes...
P0300 Code - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire, specifically cylinders 5 (P0305), 6 (P0306)

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* Faulty spark plugs or wires
* Faulty coil (pack)
* Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
* Faulty fuel injector(s)
* Burned exhaust valve
* Faulty catalytic converter(s)
* Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
* Faulty camshaft position sensor
* Defective computer

Our forum or benzworld has great info about fault codes in the searches if you haven't had a chance to poke around yet. Best of luck.

E320 2001
ive got 120k on it. i have poked around and seen alot of stuff about the cat and the common sympton with the cats usual involve noise. i have no noise or no other codes besides those two and the car takes off once you get on it.o2 sensor did cross my mind but i find it hard to belive that all of them could be bad which would be necessary for a misfire that happens on both banks. did the maf in your instance cure it temporarily? i have 10 days to pass inspectiion and im not rich. lol

You're probably right that it's not all of them that are bad - my symptom was fortunate enough to have it cured when the MAF was replaced but I did have my indy take a look at the 02, as he thought that would be a culprit. The bad cats seemed to start a trigger as the left went out, then about a week and a half later the right went - then cue the MAF issues about a week later - not to mention this to put any extra worry on you, but worth mentioning.

Hopefully someone else might be able to shed light on it...not sure if you happened to read this post https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...307-p0300.html - ohlord mentions the issue with the rev limiter that might help you diagnose - Hope the MAF is able to fix it if necessary - pretty cheap part and easy to replace thanks to the good ol DIY's - best of luck
