Star Tac
I recently purchased a 2000 E320 wagon with the Startac phone system. The phone itself has a cracked case. I can replace the case at my local phone store - but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could purchase an additional StarTac phone in the event my current one stops working. Motorola no longer makes them and MB wants an absolute fortune for one.
Thanks

If you want it to work with your M-B audio system, you will not be able to get a replacement at a Motorola vendor (Verizon, Cingular, etc.). Believe me, I have tried. It is very difficult for the dealer to get them, because as you said, they do not make them any more. Dealers can take yours and get rebuilt units. However, the wait for them is unbelievable.
Mercedes, by not making an update kit, basically is saying,we have to use old technology phones in our 2-3 year old cars. They refuse to find a way to make it possible for us to use the newer phones.

I may want to sell mine from my E-320 since it is not compatible with my new service and I do not want to update the whole phone system in the car. I was interested in selling the phone and the guts. My concern is that at resale the missing phone may be a problem to potential buyers.
