Brake Paste Shortage
I have a 2002 E Class. I bought both front and rear pad sets and two packets of MB Brake paste by mail order. I did the rear and was able to stretch one packet for both sides. (Yes, now I realize I should have got 4 packets.) The remaining packet, I do not think, will do the fronts. Can I use the Autozone type of brake paste? I really do not want to order more by mail since it will take too long and cost more in shipping than product cost. Is the MB stuff just anti-seize compound? It appears to be the same as the anti-sieze stuff that I have in a tube. Also, the closest MB dealer is a 1 1/2 hour round trip.
Thanks

I got a bit confused by the last couple of replies. Do you guys mean I can use the anti seize compound? I have a tube that I have had for years and it will most likely last a lifetime. Or do I need to get the blue type paste that dries in around ten minutes?
Thanks.

Use the anti seize compound. It works just fine. Or if you prefer buy the EBC Red Stuff or Green Stuff ceramic pads and do away with the paste altogether and no squeal.
