Lightbulb Blinking mirror advice: which is best

I'm considering my options for adding blinking mirrors to a black (040) 98 E320, which currently has left motors, self-dimming, memory, etc. I've been in touch with vendors on this board.

I need guidance:

Is it best to go with unpainted covers w/ the longer Y2K style lights, and reuse the existing motors and mirrors and have them installed?

Or is it easier to go with complete units w/ the smaller blinker and the changed connectors?

I need opinions from both camps on the ease and expense of both options.

Thanks in advance for your help.

i would just buy the whole new unit, less work and is probably cheaper, if you like the long light style, then go with that route, but i would go with the smaller light, because its probably easier to deal with and cheaper.
