Catalytic converter question

Catalytic converters in my car are plugged. I live in a rural area so the new catalytic converters will take a couple of weeks to get here. Meanwhile I really need to use the car. If I just removed the catalytic converters and put a pipe for now until the new ones get here, would that be ok for the car? Would the car run ok? My 1997 E320 has single pipe going to catalytic converts, and dual pipe coming out of catalytic converters into resonator so would have to put a y-pipe. What do you guys think?

Check to see where your O2 sensors are attached. I believe one is before cats and one after. If you remove cats and replace with pipe you may screw up the sensors' readings causing you to run very rich.

The truck shop that ordered the catalytic converters for me said it would take 2 weeks.
