E420 Strange noise during acceleration; transmission?
Hello,
I hear a strange noise when accelerating for the first time after starting the car. It sounds like a mild rumbling (almost like the traction control kicking in but the dash light does not come on) coming from the transmission. This happens once after every time I start the car and accelerate more aggressively, and doesn't happen until I turn the car off and on again. I can drive smoothly for ever and never hear it until I accelerate more aggressively.
The car also vibrates when standing at a light and in D, the RPM's fall below 500. Sometime (but not always) shifting into gear is followed by a jerk and the car seems to be pulling.
Any ideas what these issues could be? Thanks in advance,
TG
Some background:
Transmission: 722.625
I bought the car used not long ago and changed the ATF; dealer found metal particles in the pan but its only gone 100,000km and the ATF was never replaced previously so perhaps this is from normal breaking in of the transmission.

yeah, I would suspect the transmission mount has collapsed which will cause that noise if its bad enough and will definitely cause a bad vibration at idle while in gear when you are at a light or something of the sort.. I replace a bunch of these on the older cars. If one hasn't collapsed yet, it soon will..
