Radio Head unit?
What's required to remove the radio head unit and temp control unit? I see the slots at the bottom but have not done this job before. Any help?

makeshift radio/a.c. removal tool
in a crunch...you can use the plastic collar slip-ins from dress shirts...they are the right length and have the angled tip to push the clips in (or use it as a template for a sturdier material like the hanging folder)...and without the little notch, they don't click in, so you can add a notch if you care, but you don't have to.
i just removed both my a/c and radio using a hanging folder's metal hanging bars...the collar slip-ins kept bending out of shape!
hey, i used to live in TO from 82-92, takining road trips to UW and still pop up to TO a couple of times a year. it gets really hot down here!

[QUOTE=raymond g-;4027106]in case your skillset allows you to fabricate things
Both sites go to Mercedesshop and say server not found. Yes I can fabricate pretty well. A template or measurements is all that is needed. Thanks for the ideas.

radio/ac removal keys
that would be U of Waterloo...Waterloo,ON! where are you now, PA or ON?
try this first, just found it: http://www.crosslake.net/~dbipes/SLK/auxin/
here you go, attached is the template....i just used some cutters and cut the tips at about 45 degrees - be very careful with hanging folder metal hangers - THEY WILL MAKE SMALL CUTS IN YOUR FINGERS AND PALMS! wrap electrical tape or sand them down where you will be handling them most.
once radio's out then what? here is some info.... http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210...bracket-5.html ...i posted some links at bottom of page, username 'rkbad'....

Thanks Richard for the help. I am having a challenge opening the attached thumbnails for some reason. Any ideas? maybe i am not doing it right. All I see are the words 'attached thumbnails' in blue print but they do not open.

Anyway if you still want it. PM me with your email and I'll send it as an attachment.
UPDATE: I just tried to again and it only displayed the name of the file. Also, same with kbad's image. Maybe site is having some problems. I know it was slow this morning.

Not sure what the issue is. I see a small image of the key and a engineer's scale and when I click it opens to a full size image.

kbad,
I made your removal tools using the bar from a Pendaflex hanging folder. I used a pair of aviation metal shears to cut the bar in half, then shape them generally like the attached photo. I took all of :05 minutes and worked perfectly.
Thanks for a great tip!
Boyd

boydm, u r welcome, man! glad it worked out for u - who doesn't have a hanging folder these days! it's ridiculous that there isn't a standard household tool for car stereos after all these years - i've bought/made tools for other radios and now have a small collection!?! actually, u can buy a kit for ~$50 that contains tools for the most common german/european head unit tools http://www.ecstuning.com/Mercedes_Be...onic/ES251721/ . the ones i made are still rough, but they work just fine when i need them. i used a full-length bar as a 'slim jim' on my jeep, once! that's how i learned that they cut ur hands ever so slightly!!
