Rattling
Hey guys I have two 12" P1's in my trunk and every time I have the bass up even just a little bit there is rattling from my rear deck (behind the rear seats" and also from the headliner. I was wondering if there is any way I would be able to stop this rattling myself? I dont really want to have a shop do it for money considering the only hard part is taking out the headliner and rear deck. Are there any DIYs for removing these parts or any advice on how to stop the rattling? Thanks

there is also a very efficien way to stop the rattling and also prolong your ear drum's life. DISCONNECT THE SUBWOOFERS.

Mine rattles too and I have the stock Bose stereo system.
So does anyone know what are common rattles and the fix for them back there? My rattle is coming from the rear package tray as well.

what were the mb engineers thinking when they designed our cars? they should have made our cars able to withstand extremely high sound pressure levels in the confines of the vehicle. shame on them.

Mine has been doing it even when I had my stock sound system in the car

I have just noticed that my rear parcel shelf suddenly started rattling like crazy when I have the bass up at all. Does this mean my factory subwoofer is blown? Or is this just the shelf rattling? I know this is a common problem on this era MB. My 98 W202 had the rattle, as well as my father's W210 E55 AMG.
Would love to know what can be done about this. The shelf also rattles going over bumps (sport suspension).

I had this problem in my old jetta.
basically, whats going on is the decorative deck lid, is rattle against the metal deck lid.
I have a kind of "ghetto" solution to this, & it worked on my jetta. I'll look to see if its possible in the benz.
what i did was stop the top lid from vibrating against the metal by wedging sponges in the corners and in the middle, from inside the trunk.

The rear headliner where the map light is will sometimes come unclipped and rattle. Put some foam or padding back there and make sure it's clipped in. From the trunk you can pad between the metal and the hat shelf.
