Steering wheel controls for Pioneer radio (Swi-ps and swi-can2)
Alright.. I've been at this ALL DAY LONG. Got the wife a 2000 E430, she wanted iPhone controls and usb - so we ditched the factory becker radio and replaced with a Pioneer 7200HD. I bought the SWI-PS to connect steering wheel controls. Found out I then needed the SWI-PS PLUS a SWI-CAN2 - So I bought the Can2 module.
Looked up the diagram, connected the black ground, yellow +12v, red/white to can+ and white/black to can- ... NOW FOR THE PROGRAMMING. This is where it all fall's apart.
Put the unit in mode 2 - It blinks mode 2.
Press the program key, the LED lights up for programming.
Press volume up to program VOL+, it reads VOL+ (I think) the LED goes out and never comes back on.
I've tried NUMEROUS times - nothing seems to "program" in to this unit. I'm stumped. Has anyone SUCCESSFULLY installed one of these swi-ps swi-can2 devices into a w210 E430 ???????????????????

Just in case you're still stuck
I have seen this problem before. Usually it has to do with the section of the CANbus that is behind the radio. I have had success with this setup by tapping into the CANbus under the dash on the driver's side. I was then able to program the SWI-PS to code 2 and then program each button in the sequence on the instructions. Cheers
