Odd coloured xenons

Hi everyone, Im new to the forum. Ive just bought a 2001 E430 which seems to have pretty much every factory option including xenons. Ive never had a vehicle withem before and while one is emitting a clear bright white light ,the left hand one is quite yellow. What causes this? Is it just a question of replacing the bulb?

You mean the actual left and right are different, or the inner lights are yellower than the outer lights?

Yeah, the actual left and right main headlights are different. I know the inners are regular bulbs.

Probably two are required, usually if one is going out the other is not far behind. So you might as well change both at the same time to avoid having mismatched colors.

+1 on replacing both. Can be dangerous (high voltage) as a DIY.

Buy them on ebay. The user I bought them from = factory_xenon. 1 pair of real Phillips, not in boxes because he gets them bulk, less than 75 bucks shipped!

No, I have no affiliation with the guy. I did speak with him on the phone and seemed like a good person. He went out of his way to get them over-nighted to me at the last minute.

I could go to autozone and buy 2 Philips for 120 each, each in its own retail blister pac. Or, from the ebay dude, individually wrapped Philips in bubble wrap bags.

I bought mine from the ebay seller. Had them in for a few months now with no problem. And saved about 150 bucks. Inexpensive is not always bad.

I am not one to buy cheap; I do however like buying products at the least expensive way.

Are you feeling guilty about something?

I was referring more to this post, not yours:

I did replace bulbs on mine it was just a couple minutes job, you have to remove air filter housing on the passanger side and winshiled washer fluid canister on the driver side to get easy access,do not touch top of the xenon bulb and put some dielectric grease it will get better connection. best is to replace both of them at the same time to avoid diference in colour. After that use some polish solution for the head lights to get them clean and it will be perfect.
I was using philips bulbs (old one was osram)and bought them over kijjii site price about 50 bucks so far so good

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I shall be replacing them as a pair. Im in the U.K. so by the time shipping is added to bulbs from some of your suggested suppliers I will be better off sourcing them closer to home. There seem to be quite a few places I can get them here - I shall stick to a higher end manufacturer such as Phillips etc.
Thanks again.

just correcting.

If the light is yellow the bulb is not yet burnt in (it's brand new)
If the light is white everything is ok

When the bulb is on it's way out it will begin with turning blue, then purple, pink and red. You should replace when a regular 4100-4300K bulb is visibly blue when warm and pink for more than 30-60 seconds after you switch on the lights.
