Coilovers vs lowering springs

I have found a few threads with guys using the k2 coilovers but i just dont understand how they are any different then the regular lowering springs?

how are these (not coilovers) fully adjustable, can anyone clarify this for me because i would like to purchase a set of these also for my project if they are superior than a set of new bilsteins and eibachs.

does anyone have pictures of how they actually work?

but in your opinion whats better? thanks!

So as you noted they're not really coilovers, because the coil and shock are mounted separately. However, most of the "coilovers" for W210 will have an adjustable ring on the spring perch for height adjustment, the shock is rebound adjustable, and the shock is matched to the spring. With a lowering spring you're not able to adjust height and you would use the stock or some other shock.

Anyone heard about the VOGTLAND suspension?

i had a set of those, paqueras, for a couple of months. i selected them for my
99 E320. i felt they were too harsh/stiff and they did not work well with OEM,
Bilstein HD or Sport shocks....just couldn't find that sweet spot. So i sold them
to another forum member who loves them.

instead, I cut 3/4 of a coil from the factory springs to lower them about an inch
and currently using HD shocks. i felt this was a good balance for the roads
around town, yet a bit more control with the increased dampening rate.

seems the softer spring for the E320 may be Eibacht, then H&H, then Vogtland
.....before getting into the sport lowering springs (lower and higher rates).

p.s. i had Vogtland springs only, not anything like packaged set/system

Put on the Euro spec E55 springs.. 1.2" lower than the US spec & conserve the same suspension sens than the factory one are very confortable. cutting the spring you change the spring compresion rate & the car turns very stiffer
