E420 Performance...
Ive been thinking about increasing the horsepower of my E420 1997. (275HP)
I know there is no supercharger available for this engine V8. (119), i found the E430 supercharger but it seems that not fit.`
I really want to cross the 300HP+ barrier as much as far as possible.
What do you guys suggest?
What i found in the web..
-Chip (Upsolute.com) 12HP+
-K&N (Filter Element or Cone Type) 3HP+ maybe 4HP+ i dont know.
-Some work in the exhaust area. (If i remove the CAT it would smell the gasoline as hell) Maybe one of the exhaust silencer and some Stainless Steel muffler.
-What else is available?
Thanks in advance..

There isn't anything worth the expense. You'd never feel any difference on any mod for this car unless you explored the Kleeman SC. It was available for the 113 engine, but not sure about your 119. Certainly not worth the cost on a car this old.
If you want to try K&N, you can have my unused (used before, but no longer) pair of filters.

while it's very easy to get a BIG bump in performance of newer turbo diesels, IMHO it's just the opposite case for normally aspirated fuel injected gas engines. the 420 is already above 1hp/cu.in, pretty darn good.
Yup, I'd like more HP from my 420, but the least costly way to get something I'd notice would be to sell it and buy a later model mercedes, like a E55.
Just remember the old addage "the ONLY substitute for cubic inches is CUBIC $$"

Rear mount turbo or nitrous would both get you over 300 hp. I'm guessing you're looking for street power, not track, so the turbo is your best bet. You would need to custom fabricate the piping and then find a way to tune it (fuel pressure riser?). Cost would probably be $4k to $5k.
Headers along with some other modifications might get you there, but you would probably need to custom fab everything as well. Costs could be pretty high.
If you're in the States, I would sell the 420 and get a 55: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Im live in Peru, so my expect in find a E55 W210 in Peru is near to ZERO!
I believe that there is only one or two of this car in Lima, because in the late 90´s the economy in this country was at the edge of the abyss and recently we take one step forward! LOL! im kidding..right now this country economy is very well and now we can see in the streets a lot of C63 AMG, Black Series, Porsches, Ferraris, etc..
..but back in those days (late 90´s) the Japanese JDM Scene was very strong and the wealthy people spend they money in Subarus STI, EVOs and maybe some BMW M3, M5..but a very very few in AMG Mercedes!
I owned my E420 as a present from my father and i dont want to sell this car for emotional reasons. He bought a SLK350 2005...
I upgraded suspension, AMG rims, change some leather, tune up the engine, change the oil to Castrol RS and fix a lot of minor problems to get the car to pristine condition.
My daily car is a Mitsubishi L200 Pick Up 2007 (not available in USA) and also i have a Mazda RX7 1981 to have some drift fun..but my E420 its going to be my classic car because i wouldnt sell for anything.
Well im think im going to install a K&N element and thats its..just keep it clean and running strong.
*I know my english grammar its not the best, please try to understand!
Blackberry Pic..not the best Resolution!
