What is the age of your car? Are you looking for a dealer or Indy? In the older models the core replacement is a very lengthy procedure requiring some 15 hours to do and is very costly. It is the accessability of the core that is the issue and is the labour costs that are the lions share of the bill. Once you are there it is straight forward.

The vehicle is a 2003. Looking for an independent shop. Dealer quotes are outrageous.

Texas German Autohaus on Edloe. Mostly Mercedes and BMW. I know enough and have had them do enough work that I don't see that I've ever been taken.

Eurocar Werks. Has changed owners a few years ago, but still seems to be a good choice. They did a lot of repairs on the 911 I bought. I looked through the records and pricing/mileage/replacement parts seemed reasonable.

Regardless, it's gonna be large money.

Replaceing the evab is a very big job the dash has to come off,so does the trim above the fire wall and the widshield wiper
It will not be worth it unless you DIY it.
if you want to DIY it (for the fun of it) let me know I will share the directions
good luck

2002 E-class 4-matic
I'm into the "replace evaporator core process" and would like your advise and a detailed sequence once I get to the dash. I've noticed one difference in my car and some of the other videos -- the evaporator core lines in my car are on the drivers side. Mine is a w210 2002 and the videos I see have the heater and evaporatore line on the passenger side. Can you explain? Will all w210 cores fit the same side (i.e. upside down)

I've got the engine compartment stuff pretty much wrapped up and about to start on the interior. One question about the ignition switch. Does it have to be removed or can it just be uncabled? Looks like in 2002 they went to a special trim ring removal tool which is probably made out of unobtainium.

Any help would be appreciated on sequence stuff or just good wishes -- look like a big project. I'm been advised that I should use an all-aluminum core -- any thoughts on that subject, suppliers or brands would be appreciated. Thanks --Geo.
