Mercedes Benz E320
E320 different gears

Hey everyone, this might seem like a noob question, but I need help on this. I have a 96' E320 w210, 4 speed auto, and im not sure when to use the 2nd and 3rd gear..can anyone help me out with this? it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

yeh a bit of a noob question lol.

well it's an automatic car so usually you don't need to change gears yourself.

however if you're going up a hill, and the transmission is 'hunting' between 3rd and 4th, then perhaps flicking the lever to '3' will give you a smoother ride as the car sticks in 3rd gear.
you can also manually select gears to help with engine braking - example you're going to be coming to a stop 100m ahead, let the car roll and change down a gear, giving it a few seconds for the revs to adjust and you'll experience engine braking.

99% of the time - don't worry about it.
