Won't shift back to Reverse or Park/Stuck in 1st gear

Same issue + no start up

We unplugged the windows and trunk and 'esp' buttons to try to get the shifter OUT but couldn't get it out so we plugged everything back up and now she won't start. You can hear a click when you turn over but no rev what so ever. I have no clue what to even do from here.

Same issue
Have you gotten any info on this? I have an 01 e320 with the same issue. We spilt ice cream on the shifter but it worked fine for months after that then finally give her a full detail and I guess some of the cleaning solution got in the shifter and now is stuck neutral/ drive won't go out of first gear and to top it all off now won't start.

I had a similar problem with the same symptoms it ended up being the gear selector had died. After replacing it everything worked perfectly. The codes where misleading as they pointed to a bad valve body. A local specialist tested the selector and found that was the worn part.
