lamp defective error in the cluster - Right brake light

lamp defective error in the cluster - Right brake light
1997 E-420 - Right brake light intermittence error message "Lamp Defective".
I have been for last month or so getting lamp defective error. I checked the lights and found that right brake light is having issue.
I remove the bulb holder from light assembly and clean up all the contacts and installed new bulb.
I am still getting lamp defective when I push brakes. Now this is not all the time, some time brake light work and some time it producing lamp defective error.
All regular head lights, tail lights and turn lights are find and does not produce lamp defective error.
I hate "Lamp Defective" message. Is there any cure for this??? Should I swap bulb/holder from right light to left light??
Any reply will be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked to make sure that the tail light assembly isn't damaged? As they get older they tend to distort due to the heat and no longer make good contact. Your only permanent fix may be to replace the entire assembly. I had to do the same on my 99 E430 about 6 months ago. Autohausaz.com has some good pricing with free shipping.

All working now. it was the bad contact on light assembly board
It is working. It was not the bulb or bulb holder, the problem was on the board that bulb holder get tied into. the board is old and not making good contact with bulb holder. Just clean it and all working now.
