2001 E430 Sport Overall Impression
Folks,
I've had my E430 Sport for about 2 months now and here are my impressions:
1. I love the solid ride and stability at speed. The steering is lighter than I like.
2. The ride is firmer than I imagined it to be considering the Sport package does not have suspension changes. It's amazing what the wider low profile tires do to firm up the ride.
3. So far I've encountered the following problems: Sqeuaking streering wheel noise - steering rack replaced, car is off alignment after steering wheel fix, seat is making a thud/rattle noise - seat frame replaced.
More problems than I anticipated considering the E is supposed to be the most reliable model line. Overall, the car performs up to expectation, but the reliability has been somewhat disappointing.

Regarding 'squeaking steering wheel noise', can you elaborate when it happened? I have some noises when just go off of parking, but then no any noises at steering. What is your weight? I have no seat noises, however I'm going to give the car to my wife, she is much heavier me, so I need to discover the problem before warranty expires.

I'm looking to upgrade my 2000 E320 wagon to either 17 or 18" wheels. I've driven both the E430 sport as well as the E55 and found both to be nice...just trying to decide between the wheels/tires. Your input makes me think that I could be happy just changing that one variable. Just curious what type of tires you're riding on and whether that also makes difference on the stiffness.
