Question Headlight Washer / Speed-Sensitive Volume

http://www.cars.com/go/compare/trimC...=USB10MBC061A0

while I was at that webiste, cars.com, i was looking through the specs, and I came one option that said "Headlight washer: Standard". I dont get it, is that true? If yes, how does it work?

And the other thing was the "Speed-Sensitive Volume: Standard". I have the COMAND center navigation, does that still apply to my setup? Or that feature is gone? Cause I think the fauture is still there, because I recently added the AUX cable, and everytime I'm in AUX mode, I can hear the whining noise, and it doesnt sync with the RPM's, it sync with the speed of the wheels. The faster wheels spin, the higher the pitch.

there are a number of features which are incorrect that I can see. the headlight
washer is not standard unless you have HID here in the USA.

the speed sensing doo-hickey is suppose to vary the radio volume. i've never
experienced this even with my OEM head unit. after several years, i sold it and
installed the Audio10 in place of the previous Audio30.

That's because there are no wipers. It's just a water spray, hence the "washer".

i'm not sure if you're expressing disbelief or not understanding how a headlight
washer functions. just go to youtube and you'll see examples.

thats pretty interesting. I always wondered what that thing is right below the headlights. from the video, it says you gota press that button (right next to the back headrest switch) and I don't have that button. Does that mean I don't have that headlight washer feature?

Ummm... I would say that the missing switch is a pretty sure sign of you not having them.

for MBs marketed in the US, the washers come with HID equipped cars only.
so that is another (secondary) gauge.

w210 headlamp washer

Our 98 has headlamp washer, does a great job when needed. However, only one washer unit extends, the other seems to be stuck. It still sprays, but does not extend.
Any Ideas on how to unstick? Its on the Drivers side.
We bought this w210 from Origional owner with 32K miles. Great car, no issues after 15K, except the rear window issue.

Regards,
Rob in Phoenix.

Do you have the hooks for removing the instrument cluster? If not, make something similar. Use it to get behind the washer cover and pull it outward. Once you get it far enough out, you can hold it with one of the fingers. At the front there is a phillips screw. Remove it.

The 'squirtter' mechanism uses pump water pressure to cause it to extend. Maybe it needs cleaning or maybe the hose is disconnected. Although you should see water on the ground in that case.

When re-installing, there is a hook on the back of the unit which fits into a tab on the sheet metal. Be sure that's engaged before fastening phillip screw.
