Question Breaks pulsing when stopping.

For some reason I can feel my car pulsing when breaking. I checked the rotors that came on the car and they look brand new. What would cause this? I don't want to pay for new rotors when these looks new and the break light isn't on either. At high speeds when breaking the stearing wheel shakes. I've only owned this car for a little over a month, Its a 2001 e320.

looking at it isn't going to eliminate the condition. you really should perform
a closer examination, such as using a micrometer, or dialing for runout.

So you believe it could still be rotors? I guess ill have it checked out by my indi tech.

it can be from a variety of causes. it may (still) be the rotor but you're not
going to eliminate it simply by looking at it.

potential causes of pulsating: brake shoes, rotor, calipers, lug bolts, wheels, tires...

Could it be caused by the fact that one of the lugs in three of my wheels doesn't look like the other others? Its looks way shorter.

Rotors are most likely warped. you cant tell at all by looking at them. One bolt is shorter because it was probably replaced. The replacement bolts are shorter and do not extend out past like the old ones do. There were problems with the old ones getting seized and snapping. Ask me how I know :-)

+1 on the check for warped rotors.

Go get them machined or something as long as there is enough life in them.

Pulsing while braking only is related texclusively to rotor warp. If no shaking at speed w/o depressing the brake pedal then you rule out tires and/or balancing issues or any other suspension issues. As stated just sighting the rotors will not expose warpage. They must be measured by a competent installer like the dealer or a good recommended Indy shop in your area, not a Midas, Meinke of the world. the help there turns over too fast. Go where they are well trained and paid and the extra dollars spent will be worth it in lifetime value of the job done.
